Paying for professionalism in the fitness Industry

Imagine walking into your favourite CrossFit gym or small coaching facility, where you are greeted by friendly faces and motivated coaches who are dedicated to helping you reach your fitness goals. These coaches are not just instructors; they are your mentors, your motivators, and your support system in your fitness journey. Their guidance and expertise are what make your workouts truly transformative and rewarding.
You are putting your trust in them with your health. If I’m looking to improve this import part of my life I want to know the person is a professional. What’s leisure and fun for you, is a profession for them.
Yes they should enjoy it, but you want to know they treat your experience to no end.
Everything in that hour is about you and your progress.

Now, picture a scenario where these valuable coaches are struggling to make ends meet, despite their hard work and dedication. The gym can no longer afford to pay them what they truly deserve, leading to a high turnover of experienced coaches and a lack of consistency in the quality of training and support you receive.

As a result, you may start to notice inconsistencies in the delivery of your workouts and the level of personalized attention you receive. You may feel like something is missing, like the spark and energy that once fueled your workouts are no longer there. This can impact your motivation, progress, and overall satisfaction with your gym experience.
Unfortunately this is one of the weaknesses in our industry by large, but there are owners like me, trying to buck that trend.
We know to keep team members around we need to supply them with a safe enviorment, challenge them toi grow and financially compensate them to stay motivated to deliver everyday.
Coaches can’t hide behind a computer screen, there are no off days.
My goal as an owner is to never lose a member of staff due to money, it’s why we pay about the industry norm.

This is what a brighter future ahead looks like? Coaching gyms where the coach is your leader should be paid well enough to not just make a living, but to thrive? Imagine a world where your coaches are able to afford a mortgage, have financial security, and feel valued and respected for their hard work.
It’s our company mission to provide that, to change the complexion of what a coach looks like.
A pro and an industry to be taken seriously.

In this scenario, you would feel a sense of relief and reassurance knowing that your coaches have what we call a “real job” – one that provides stability, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose. You would feel inspired and motivated by their passion and dedication, knowing that they are truly invested in your success and well-being.
Unfortunately this is not always the case, I have first hand experience of being broke even though I was in employment doing 60-70 hour days, I work with gym owners who have to close their doors and give up on their dream because they never set themselves up for success and didn’t believe in themselves enough to charge their worth.
I hate this. Hate is a strong word but by comparison the impact these people have on peoples lives, the joy they bring.
They are the top of their field, in any other industry they would be financially secure.
Our industry needs that also, if we are to change the direction of our worlds health.

By valuing and investing in your coaches, you are not just supporting them – you are investing in yourself and your own fitness journey. You are creating a positive and empowering environment that fosters growth, progress, and success for everyone involved. So, the next time you walk into your gym, remember the impact you can have by choosing to support a business that values and respects its staff, and ultimately, its members – like you.

We reflect every week on how lucky we are to have members choose us, we recognise you could be anywhere in the world and you choose to come to us, for that we are grateful.
It’s my mission to repay you by helping my team, help you achieve your goals.

Let’s keep moving forward together.
